Neatly written up on two leaves with one of the three known examples. Scarce.

Kendal: 1823 Local Penny Post - Entire Letter Hawkshead to Gatehouse bearing KENDAL / Penny Post two line h/s in red, with No.3 boxed receiving office in black and Dumfries 18th Jan three line d/s in black. Rate amended from 1d to 11d for single letter rate 170-230 miles. A receiving office numbered h/s was sent to Hawkshead in 1810 and remained in use until 1831. Neatly written up on album page.
