Kendal: 1846 (18 June) Entire Letter from the postmaster of Burton near Kendal to the postmaster of Buxton bearing 1841 1d tied 411 numeral cancel and blue KENDAL skeleton postmark, temporary backstamp in blue applied on the first day of issue. Scarce.
Kendal: c1750 Bishop Mark Kendal to London Entire with large single line KENDAL in black with clear 18 / MA large London bishop mark alongside, Single letter rate of 3 crossed out and charged 8d rate (double letter over 80 miles). Neatly written up on page.
MANCHESTER / 185 mileage mark in GREEN on 1813 (13 Dec) E.L Manchester to Rochdale with manuscript 4 charge mark, MANCHESTER 185 green mileage mark on obverse (rare in green).
MANCHESTER 185 mileage round datestamp in red 1816 (24 Mar) E.L to Lincoln's Inn Fields London (public house) with manuscript charge mark, mileage 185 at the top of the circle, name reading outwards, fine h/s.
TOO LATE & TOO LATE / N.P. & MANCHESTER arc post mark in red on 1829 (June) Entire to Burnley with manuscript charge mark & Too Late / N.P boxed h/s in red, plus Too Late oval h/s in red on reverse, alongside MANCHESTER arc cancel.
1840 (13th May) One Penny Mulready Letter sheet Stereo A65 from Liverpool (orange-brown MX cancel in full on obverse) to Hastings with brown-red cds on reverse, scarce 2nd week usage of the Penny Post. Few faults.
1840 1d black (AC) four margin example with neatly struck red Maltese Cross cancel, stain from Linseed oil, sound.
1840 1d black (CD) 3 margins and 1 touching cancelled with a red MX stated to be plate (3) nice clean stamp.
1840 1d black (DA) used with neat strike of red MX and four margins (thins) & 2d blue with black MX (BK) with 4 margins but light crease, both in a Harrington and Byrne folder with certificate of authenticity.
1840 1d black (EE) unplated with four good to close margins and black MX, very heavily thinned but does not detract. Showing E retouched by hand. Sound. SG 2.
1840 1d black (EG) Plate 10 fine used three good margins, vertical crease, black MX cancel, cat £950.
1840 1d black (FB) 4 margin space filler badly torn but ok frontal appearance quite heavy black MX cancel stated to be plate (5).
